Robbery is the crime of taking or attempting to take anything of value by force or threat of force or by putting the victim in fear. In places like Chakwal, livestock is a common profession where cattle-rustling is reported as a common theft.
Previously, cattle rustlers were committing cattle theft by foot or by using horses. "Khoji" (foot-tracker) and "Thekri-pehra" (volunteer village watchmen) used to work in close coordination with the police by employing effective strategies to identify criminals through foot prints and patterns. The crime has now evolved into a more serious offence. Criminals are now armed and use lethal weapons to snatch cattle at gun point and at times take victims as hostage.
Cattle rustler gangs are ever changing and they enlist criminals from far and wide. With the changing method of crime, the strategy of the police has also become more effective and efficient. Attock Police has, therefore, been vigilant in keeping a close eye on the offenders and catching them in order to save the sole source of livelihood of the poor residents.
